I just used this to clear 8.25 inches off my 12 x 30 wood deck. It was light enough to carry from garage, and handled the job easily. Close to the house where the snow was packed from falling off the roof, I had to made two passes. My wife & son did our driveway, and it worked well there also.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

this is the first time I have ever used a snow thrower and it beats the heck out of shoveling. it is lightweight enough that I can lift it if needed. we just had a foot of somewhat dry snow and it did great! glad I got one with a chute that I can turn; a front thrower would not do the trick here. A Sidewalk Clearing the snow thrower

If you live in a snow field, which gets a lot, probably because of a snow shovel and a lot of exercise shoveling all that beautiful white stuff from sidewalks. If you are fit, then they certainly have no problem with that shoveling ... unless, on the sidewalk, three and a path had to do! Everyone reaches a point when its best when it not that a bit 'hard physical activity - and that's where the snow blower comes in.

A snow throweris a machine that does all the work for you. Just stay behind and push.

Snow Throwers

There are different types of snow guns - one or two steps. Most homeowners only need a single-stage machine - the owners of rental properties that are responsible for their tenants are the ones most likely with a two-stage machine

A single-stage

A single-stage snow blower uses a single high-speed "wheel" - usually two or more curved plastic paddles -that suck in the snow machine, and the forces outside the slide in the yard next door. These snow plows are very light and not so suitable for more than a foot of snow o.

A two-stage

As the name suggests, during the two snow blower gets the level of snow removal in two. An auger is used to break the first snow, and then was sucked into the impeller and the tree is blown from the discharge. This type of launcher is used whenIts territory is usually more than a foot of snow or more at a time.

Used correctly, a snow blower will save you time and backaches. There are many manufacturers, including Honda, John Deere, Sears-Craftsman and Toro. The best time to buy a snow blower after the season is over is when they go on sale all.

Qualities that are buying a snow blower in its clearing width, the radius and the poundage, it can snow a handle onTime.

Cure

Whenever a snow blower, it is essential that you wear safety glasses ear protection and goggles.

As with each hand, fans can be dangerous if not used correctly snow. If the snow blower jams your ... turn off and unplug. Even then, out of reach with his hand to solve the traffic jam - with a sturdy stick or broomstick to do the job. A lot of people every year with a finger on the blade of a plow, they do not want to followthese simple precautions.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Review

READ THE REVIEWS AND HEED THE WARNINGS! THIS MACHINE HAS PROBLEMS! I thought the negatives were just flukes. They weren't. Either Toro has some serious quality control issues, or this machine is a piece of junk.

I have used two Toto Power Shovels (one I borrowed and one I owned); loved them both. Little powerhouses of energy. The only thing that would have made them better is if they'd had wheels and a directional shute.

Moved to a house with a large driveway and thought I'd upgrade to this Electric Curve. Bought it in January 2009, used it maybe 4 times before spring. Worked beautifully. In December 2009, we had our first big snow~~light and fluffy but quite a bit. I took the snow thrower out of the garage and plugged it in. It made several passes down the driveway and then barely threw the snow at all; within seconds I started to smell something electrical burning. Seconds later, smoke was coming from the socket, and the machine "died." I will contact Toro, but I'm sure this will cost me $50 to return this to them (the Toro distributors won't work on the electric models), and I'm not sure it's worth the effort to return it, if I get the same flawed machine back again. I'm looking for another brand. YOU SHOULD, TOO.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Best Electric Snow Blower - Can the Toro 1800 Power Curve gets the job done them?

The Toro 1800 Power Curve snow thrower 38 025

This particular snow thrower is ideal for cleaning 10 cm of snow and off:

1) approaches

2) the Married

3) small shipyards

It packs the power of a punch and 2-stage gas snow thrower without all the traditional problems of it asFor example:

No oil or gas is mixed again the It works sound very smooth and quiet in contrast to his counterpart of gas, gas-powered fan, as you can in the middle of a construction site It is not necessary to go to your machine to lubricate before and after the snow season. With an output of gas appliances, you must keep all moving parts greased first snow season starts and when the snow season is over.

So my advice is that if the areawhere you live regularly receives a foot of snow. Then this is the best electric snow thrower for you. I used it in two winter seasons, and you always get the job done.

Where To Buy Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I just used my Toro 1800 today for the first time -- 5" of wet, heavy snow, with rain on top. Worked beautifully, cleared my driveway quickly. I will have to get used to the cord (100', 12-gauge) and how to maneuver more efficiently, but that will come as I use it more.

My only problem so far: I did not receive a cap for the other end of the axle. I received the machine a couple of months ago and noticed that part was missing; I meant to get to it, then forgot. So today, I used the machine without the end cap and the wheel kept falling off (but the machine is light enough so that I could keep on going by just holding it level!).

I purchased a couple of metal caps at my local hardware store. However, the axle ends are recessed within the wheels and the axle slides freely up and down its housing, so I could not install the cap on my own -- I would have needed either the proper workshop setup to prop up the other end of the axle inside the other wheel, or 6 hands. I had to take it down to the hardware store to have them do it (fit easily inside my Camry trunk), which they did in 5 minutes. (So even if the part had been included I don't know how I would have been able to put it on.) The lesson is to make sure you have all the parts, and also clear instructions. And to take care of business in a timely fashion.

That said, it was worth the extra aggravation. I no longer dread snowfalls, and I'm looking forward to being able to clear my driveway in 10 minutes and then go out for a walk in the snow!

The only improvement would be to make a model that is self-propelled. I did find it a bit hard to push it through sometimes and had to make a couple of passes. But it's wonderful for what it is, and it's a delight to not have yet another gasoline engine to maintain and fuss over.

Order Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I live in Lake Tahoe, CA where our snowfall is regularly measured in feet not inches, so I wouldn't even think of using this on our driveway. We bought this to help us clear smaller areas and it is very useful for that purpose. We keep this on our 2nd floor deck and use it to clear this large deck when it's snowed 10-12 inches or less. More than that and it's hard to clear as the snow falls up and over the top of the machine when it's pushed. It does this job quite well. I am very pleased that it's light enough that I can carry it from the 2nd to the 3rd story deck up a spiral staircase to do the upper deck. It serves the purpose that we bought it for, has survived many Sierra snowstorms and is portable. It's not perfect (wheels are not helpful, would like to throw snow higher than chute will allow), doesn't work well on compacted snow and icy snow, and is not for heavy duty snow removal. If you have appropriate expectations though, it should serve those quite well, especially for the price. I would not have wanted to shovel all the snow that this thing has removed for me, making a worthy investment.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Buy Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I purchased this item five years ago. It has held up quite well, and is still running just fine. It survived having a newspaper run through it, without issue.

We live in an area that gets three to four feet of snow per year. In a typical year, we have to shovel the driveway maybe ten times. A big snowfall for us is about eight inches. The product is ideal for those conditions.

If it snows much more often where you are, you'd probably want to consider a gasoline-powered model. Avoiding running over the cord is a bit of a hassle (but for our frequency of use, the hassle of maintaining a gasoline engine would be greater).

If it snows in much greater amounts where you are, you'd probably want to consider a larger model. The intake handles a half-foot of snow without problem, but if it's much deeper than that, you have to make multiple passes, taking off about six inches in each pass.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

electric-powered snow blower - Toys or Tools?

With all the snow in recent years East, fans of all makes the snow was a leap in popularity, but probably not a group as much as the electric-powered snow thrower. It's definitely some advantages compared to gas models in terms weight, cost, easy handling and storage (especially small ones). They are perfect for those border areas that normally get light and suitable intermittent snowfall.

The rank-powered electric snow thrower in twogeneral categories: (1) ultra-light, small units, to cut the stairs, terraces, courtyards and small bridges, and (2) machines that are in competition with single-stage gas models.

Ultra-lights

electric-powered snow blower - Toys or Tools?

These machines are light, weighing about 12.5 pounds per kg about 20 minutes. They are often called "electric paddle". They clear a strip of 12 to 15 inches, the snow is not more than 4 or 5 inches (most people use these devices for shoveling the snow very deep). They are easy to store and hang on a hook on the wall of a garage. These are the perfect tools for stairs and small terraces and courtyards, or short distances. The prices in this ultra-lights run about $ 90 to $ 150.

I thought it might be a good idea to have one of these units to areas in addition to a larger snow blower for older children.

Comparable single-stage machine

These electrically operated> Throwers have larger engines - up to 15 amps - and a path to 19 inches in 12 inches of snow though. She has all the characteristics of the largest gas-stage models, such as directional discharge chutes, ergonomic handles, large heavy wheels, the body (not so heavy as the gas models), the distance relief well, and the like.

And of course do not have gas or oil, and it's never frustrating experience of a crackPull start trying to start a lively engine gas in sub-zero weather. The obvious advantage over comparable models of gas is that there are no oil changes or costly setups.

Of course, the downside of this size are comparable electric fan is that it takes about the same space as the gas models, plus there is a power cable, which seems in a way quite often. The prices of these large electrical machines can be up to about $ 300.

GoingCordless

The giant of the group is interesting as a cordless model. It has two batteries in a battery with a duration of 45 to 60 minutes on a single charge. It 's the two-stage blower Ariens AMP 24. This machine cuts a strip of 24 inches to 20 inches of deep snow. Obviously, it was designed for the removal of heavy snow. It has 6 forward and 2 in reverse order. This machine has all the advantages of electric models, as the workhorsePossibility of large gas models in two stages. Unfortunately, this machine costs about $ 1,600, and out of reach of many people.

On the down side, this unit of storage space required and increasing the cost of repair can be very high, especially if the batteries are low and must be replaced. Nobody knows How much electricity is used to recharge the batteries, but they must be connected at all times maintain a trickle charge on it. I'm not sure snow Wirelessthe wave of the future yet.

Toys or tools?

Well, in my opinion, electric snow thrower is definitely a tool, although some of them seem to toys. But, like all the tools they need in areas that were to be used. I know, I know that many people tell me on the mountain snow drifts that fight with their guns a little snow - and certainly have a job ... but I think the right job could be done easily with the right tool for theApplication to.

Cheap Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I wish I could say that the Toro 1800 was the answer to our snow removal problems, but unfortunately I can't. In fact, I can't even see how it works. The throat of the carriage bolts that are supposed to connect the discharge chute to the chute deflector are too big for the holes in the discharge chute. Because of this, it's impossible to tighten the bolts. I contacted Toro about this problem and they sent new bolts that were exactly the same size as the first set. Guess what: Those did't fit either (of course)! So I called the company again. The rep suggested that I remove the discharge chute by loosening the two bolts on the chute that hold it on. There are no bolts on top of the chute. The show thrower is going back to the dealer in the morning. What a waste of time...Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Cheapest Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I just got done cleaning a 120' driveway, sidewalks around the house, and the neighbor's drive and walks in 10" heavy, wet, Colorado snow. Not a single jam, never bogged down, and this blower seriously threw the snow. My neighbors have big gas powered blowers and they were all clogging. Needless to say it was pretty funny watching this little red snow thrower plow through this snow like a hyperactive go cart. No gas, no oil, no smog. If you are on the fence about buying it just get it, it's great. Amazon shipped it for free, had it here quicker than expected. Also, get the low temp power cord, it's definitely worth it. I will only add another sad tale to many other negative reviews. My main belt shredded during the second use, and thus the curve did not move a single snowflake during a two day storm. Oh, my aching back from all the shoveling!

The manual and the Toro phone tree directs you to a local Toro master dealer/repairer. My "master" dealer (and I live in a metropolitan area) could get me a belt in a week and a half, which is too late for this snow storm.

I suspect Toro has a quality control problem because a sizable minority of other reviewer here report belt and other problems. On the other hand, many reviewers are positive and my neighbor has been using his curve for 3 seasons without a problem. Buying one is taking a gamble that you will get a non-defective one. Otherwise, I wish you good luck getting parts and a lasting repair. To start, a replacement belt from Toro will cost you over twenty-five bucks with postage, and then you hope it will last.

As others have noted, before buying, consider the typical heaviness of the snow in your area. The curve works wonderfully (when it works) for our typically light and dry snow on driveways and sidewalks. For wet and heavy snows, the curve works much less well; you can have frequent clogging of the chute (always unplug before clearing) and the snow will not be thrown very far.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Low Price Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

The first time I used the blower it worked amazingly well, for about 30 minutes. Then I got a piece of ice stuck in it. I quickly stopped the blade but it was too late, the belt was ruined.

It turns out that for 300 plus dollars, you don't get a torque limiter or shear pins so the motor turns until your release the switch or the belt breaks. The trick is to stop the unit immediately if it stops throwing snow. That's important because the belt is about $25 and you can only get it at a Toro dealer or parts warehouse. It is supposed to be made out of Kevlar but if it is, the it is a very thin grade Kevlar.

I expect that with enough diligence, I can make the belt last a year, this is the second year for the blower so we'll see.

Don't use this blower if the snow is heavy and wet or around ice formations.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Decide Now

I had my doubts about an electric snow blower, but after having used this through numerous storms this past winter, I am now a believer!

Pros:
1. Lightweight - I can lift this thing with one arm using the convenient handle. Try that with any of the gas blowers.
2. Maneuverable (related to #1) - Given it's small footprint and light weight, I can push this thing around anywhere and get into tight spaces.
3. No maintenance - there isn't any hardcore upkeep of this thing - at least like there is with a gas blower.
4. Ample power - I find it fairly easy to push depending on the amount and texture of snow. I haven't had any issues clearing my driveway and sidewalk using the Toro 1800 (in NJ).
5. Quiet - Again compared to a gas powered blower, this thing is quiet as heck emitting a small motor sound only when you hit the "trigger"

Cons:
1. Wheels - little on the small side, but when you're pushing against 6 inches of snow, you're not really rolling on wheels anwyay
2. Not going to get you through crazy storms - this is no surprise, but this thing is prob. not made for 2 ft. packed snow. I have had no problems however with the recent storms.

Overall a (surprisingly) great product.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Right now

I bought this snow thrower based on positive reviews from other purchasers here at Amazon. I could have bought it locally for $318 including sales tax, but through Amazon it cost $270 total. I'm tired of finicky gas engines which do not want to start in the winter, so I thought I'd face the sneers of my peers and went electric. Turns out one of them has a peewee electric smaller than this one. It takes some practice (as other users mentioned) to use this thrower. You have to treat it like you would a vacuum cleaner in your forward and back movements, minding the cord. I use a 3 conductor 12 gauge cord which is stiff and heavy, but causes no voltage drop to the motor. Most of my blowing is within the range of a 50' cord (driveway, front walk and part of sidewalk). Finishing the walk requires adding another 50' cord, but again with no observable reduction in machine performance.

It blows 6" of snow with ease and will blow up to a foot but you have to go slow then. The tough stuff is the windrow the city plow pushes up in front of the mail box and drive way. It is very dense, heavy and contains gravel. I found I could blow that too, although I had to take small passes and not push the Toro too hard. No small blower on the block can handle that stuff any better, it takes a big high horsepower self-propelled 2-stage blower to cut through that well, but mine worked OK. I just hope I didn't harm it too much.

The cord does tend to come unplugged, but I loop it around the handle to help reduce that problem. I used the blower for 9 full plow jobs this past winter so I'm averaging $30 per use so far. The blowing goes faster when your spouse helps manage the cord. My snow removal area is: driveway 20'x27' (540 sq. ft.), front door walk 7'x22' (154 sq. ft.) and sidewalk 4'x85' (340 sq. ft.) for a total of 1,034 sq. ft. Blow time is 15 minutes for a 1-2" snow, up to a half hour for a 4-6" snow and up to a full hour for any city plow windrow. Sorry for all the detail, can't help it, I'm an engineer.

I like my Toro 1800 and am very satisfied with my purchase. I hope it will last for several winters now. I'm 63 and hand shoveled my driveway for 34 years before deciding maybe I ought to take it a little easier.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Immediately

OK, so this thing isn't a huge, gas-powered snow thrower. It's a small electric, and you have to make some allowances.

That said, once I got it assembled (more on that shortly) I've had nothing but good experiences with it. This winter has been pretty bad -- multiple storms that dropped more than a foot on my yard -- and the 1800 chewed through everything with no complaints, even when the snow was higher than it was. It was at its best, of course, with light, dry snow, but it managed just fine with heavier, wetter snow, and even managed to scoop up the slush at the road end of the drive.

There are really only two downsides to this snow-thrower, as far as I'm concerned. The first is simply that it's electric: dealing with a power cord is a pain, and seriously limits the range of what I can do. The second is construction: the bolts that hold the chute in place just can't be tightened down enough, so the piece that's supposed to control where the snow goes slips over time, and I have to readjust it periodically.

Still, if you've got a small driveway like I do (about 4 cars), this is a great deal.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Top Quality

First off, make sure you have a good 12-14 gauge 100-150' outdoor extension cord. It doesn't come with one. Other reviews have said that since the machine has some plastic casing, it's not able to dig through ice and such. For the most part I agree. If you have a lot of ice build-up on your driveway, this thrower won't be able to dig through it with the power that the gas monsters have. However, our driveway was covered in about a foot of snow that had mostly frozen.
This little toro tore through all that snow and threw it about 30' onto the neighbor's house. I was amazed at how strong the little machine was. I had to be careful to try not to hit the neighbor's house. It took a little longer to clear the driveway since the thrower isn't very wide, but it was so fun my wife and I took turns makings runs down the driveway and back.
I definitely recommend this product. If you just need to clear your driveway and don't need to do a parking lot or something over 150' away from a power source.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.
