I read all the reviews on this product at multiple websites, good and bad, before purchasing - my biggest concern being that there were some complaints of belt problems right out of the box. I simply hoped that the odds would be in my favor, but they weren't, even though I had ordered a spare belt from Toro and two 12-guage electrical cords (a spare in case I run over one) after seeing the reviews.
Unfortunately, although easy to assemble, as soon as it was plugged in and turned on, the rotor did not spin. I turned it on in the garage ahead of the snow (about 4" of light snow) and it just pushed it with no blower. Sure enough, the belt was tangled up. As soon as it was turned on, the belt slipped off, repeatedly. It did work for one pass in the snow - beautifully, then the belt slipped again. I replaced it with the new belt, thinking that maybe it had been shipped with a loose or slipped belt, but that didn't help either. After about 6-8 times the belt slipped off, I gave up and called and Toro.
When I informed Toro of the reviews and problem, they said it needed to be returned to the seller, as they didn't think it was something that could be helped by sending it to an authorized dealer (100 miles from home).
I'm debating on whether to order a new one when the return goes through. If the other reviews are correct, then maybe I'll get lucky and receive one that works. It truly is an ideal machine - light and easy to operate. I grew up with an electric lawnmower so the cord didn't intimidate me and frankly I don't see how that blower could cut a 12-guage cord (I had an extra one on hand just in case).
