I did a lot of research before buying this snow thrower and saw the discharge chute assembly woes others had, so I paid particular attention to that when putting it together. The small carriage bolts that hold the assembly together fit into square indentations in the plastic chute so when tightening the bolt it could easily strip the plastic. What I did was hold the bolt head firmly seated into the indent while tightening and there was no problem. The manual discharge loft adjustment is smooth yet stiff enough that it isn't affected by the snow.
