For an electric powered snowblower this machine does a pretty decent job. Granted it could never compare to a gas powered machine but it is very useful. We live in West Michigan and get a lot of lake-effect snow showers. This machine will take on snow up to 10 inches deep. It works best on "dry" snow but will work on "wet" snow also - it just wont throw it as far. For where we live I use it mostly for quick maintenance or touch up clearing of snow and for sidewalks and other areas that the snowplow can't get to.

PROS: No mixing of oil and gas, small and convenient.

This is the 2nd toro 1800 I have purchased and consider this, for the cost, a very good machine. Its lightweight, low maintenance, durable (I live in western N.Y.) and can move its share of snow. The only drawback is the plastic tiller which doesn't stand up to the hard ice embedded snow as found at the end of the driveways from snowplows.
