I purchased the Toro 1800 Power Curve in Nov. 2005. It fit my needs here in the NY area where we do not have many snowstorms. The machine worked OK for 3 seasons. But this past December, it died. I was clearing a path and stopped the machine to change directions. It would not start again. I called the Toro Customer Service toll free number, and listened to the recorded message. In short, Toro tells you that if you are beyond the 2 year warranty (which really is a 6 month warranty since you only use the machine in the winter months), the cost to repair the machine is too expensive and to buy a new one! So Toro is telling you that after 2 years the machine is not worth repairing. A very expensive temporary snow thrower! I bought this product about two years ago.
But it looked like there was a short-circuit inside
and It stopped working.
Since it was still under the warranty,
I called Toro's customer service. One lady talked
with me and let me bring it to a service dealer.
However, when I asked her to provide some details
on things like what options I could get if it is
not repairable. She refused to give details and just
said she was not authorized to give a permission
on repairing over the phone. However, I told her
I just wanted more details on warranties and I didn't
expect her to give any permission on repairing.
She became very impatient. She refused to give me her name

I'd give it 100 stars if I could. I love this machine. I have arthritis in my hands and can't do heavy lifting or pulling and this is so light weight and easy to operate. It only took about 5 minutes to get it ready to use. The cord never gets in my way. I live in North West Iowa and we are getting hit hard with the snow this year and the huge drifts to get through. I can't afford to hire someone as I have a lot of driveway and two long walks that need it every time it snows and sometimes in between just from the blowing snow. They want $40 each time. I cleared both walks that are 40 feet long each and my oversized double driveway that is 20 feet long. I did them all in 25 minutes! I was told that this will not handle high drifts but that's not true. I lifted it at an angle and hit the drifts and knocked them loose then blew it away. I couldn't even get into my garage as my electric door opener is not working and there were drifts more than 3 feet high all the way to the side door. It's been that way for two weeks. I used this and got it all open in less than an hour, even with the 100% 3 ft. tall drift that went all the 40 feet to the garage door. It's so narrow that I can keep it in my front porch walk in so it is there when I need it. I just open the door and set it out and start clearing. I bought a 50 foot cord to go with it but wish I would have bought a 100 ft. I had a 50 ft. but it is not good for cold so it gets unflexible very quickly in the below zero temps we have. The blue one for the cold works great and stays flexible. This is so easy to lift that I have had no problems lifing it in and out of the porch. I thought the plastic would break from the hard snow as it chewed it up but there is not even a mark on the blades and we had some light ice in between the layers, This last snow was wet and heavy and it had no problems spitting it out! My toro snow thrower is now five years old and still works great. It is exactly what I need for the type of snowfall we have in southern New England. Light enough to lift, powerful enough to throw snow 30 feet. I have a 100 foot cord on a wonder winder and I can tear through my 60 foot long driveway and large parking area in 30 minutes or less. I almost jog up and down the long runs blowing the snow away.

The one thing to remember is that since this is NOT a big gas machine you need to pick your battles. If I expect more than 5 or 6 inches of snow then I clear my drive when it gets to be 3 inches or so. then I clear it again later when the snow is done.

It is far superior in overall work, maintenance, and hassle of what my neighbors go through with their gas machines, not even considering the neighbor who had his snow machine transmission sieze up -- the Toro doesn't even have a transmission!
