Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Decide Now

After buying my first house in central NJ, I started buying the necessities. This snow blower came up on sale on Amazon, so I read all I could about snowblowers in a day, talked to some friends and coworkers, then purchased the 1800.

This baby performed great during our big snowstorm (10 " light/fluffy snow) in late Jan 2005. I really couldn't believe how well and how far it threw the snow! And it was light enough to use as a "power shovel" on the super high snow pack at the end of the driveway left by the plow.

Then just this week (end of Feb 2005) we got 5-7 inches of heavy wet snow. I cleared the driveway no problem, and it even threw the slushy stuff at the end of the driveway enough to clear it away.

TWO NOTES:
1) You do need to practice a little to get a feel for how fast to push the unit. Too fast and it will bog down a bit. Simlarily, the unit does swerve a bit if you push it too fast... but this is easily handled by slowing down.

2) Be sure to buy the proper weight power cords. The motor is 12 amps, so it needs at least a 12 gauge cord to supply the electric.... all the more important when you are out more 100 to 200 feet from the wall plug. I bought one 50' and one 100' 12 gauge cord from Lowes. This was more expensive than the el-cheapo 16 or 18 gauge cords you can pick up, but it allows the best delivery of electric power to the unit, and the cords don't "freeze-up" and get stiff like the cheaper ones.

I am very pleased with the 1800 so far, and am so glad I purchased it when I did. I expect many years of less back strain from hand shoveling because of this Toro product.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.
