Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Right now

i deicded to purchase this item after reading the many positive reviews. So perhaps my case is just an aberration. I received it just a day before our first snowstorm here. I was eager to try it out. There were maybe 2 or 3 inches of light fluffy snow on the driveway. I plugged it in, turned it on and it worked great, shooting snow to the side a good 30 feet. That lasted for about 10 minutes, and then it simply stopped working.

It still got juice, that wasn't the problem. I could see that when i put the power on, the rotary thingy that picked up the snow wasn't turning, even after i cleared it of snow. I could manually turn it with my hand, but it wouldn't by itself. I thought maybe some part i couldn't see had frozen (it was probably 32 degrees out, not abnormally cold), but anyway, i decided to bring it in my basement (about 50 degrees) and let it sit there for about an hour, but i tried it again and it still didn't work.

I called the Toro dealer and she said it sounded like a broken belt. How could the belt break so quickly? It's brand new!! So this a.m. i had to go to the trouble of dropping it off at my local Toro dealer/repair place, and it won't be ready for 7-10 days. It's covered by a 2-year warranty, so i won't have to pay for the repair, but i'm most annoyed by this inconvenience and hassle with something i've owned for less than 24 hours. And unfortunately, our next snow storm is coming tomorrow night, so despite shelling out $279, i will still be shoveling, and not too happy about it.
