Discount Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

I have been looking for a snowblower/thrower for over a year, and decided upon an electric one as I would prefer not having to deal with gas motors. After reading various review sites and watching Youtube videos of this Toro 1800, I purchased it 2 weeks ago. Delivery was quick, I had it at my front door within 3 days (and this was using Amazon's 5-9 business day free shipping option), so kudos for that right off the bat. Plus, we were forecast to receive nearly a foot of snow the following weekend, this was the recent paralyzing storm that struck much of the northeast on December 19-20, 2009.

So immediately, the Toro 1800 was put to the test in 12" light fluffy snowfall. And it worked brilliantly! Plugged it in and started clearing off my 4-car driveway in about one-quarter the time it took two adults with shovels in the past. It was even able to scoop/throw the partially melted inch of slush underneath. Had to stop and loosen out the slush that had accumulated in the chute, but once it was cleared the machine was working fine again.

One minor issue I did have with the Toro 1800 is the extension cord constantly getting in the way, so unlike the gas-powered blowers, you'll need to keep stopping and making sure the cord is out of the way. For instance, you'll walk this Toro down the driveway, clearing away a good width, right down to the pavement. Rather than turning around, you need to walk backwards to retrace your steps over the cleared path. What's in your way but the extension cord! So if you want to get the snowthrowing done quickly, have a second person by the side who is able to hold the cord and keep it untangled.

To summarize, 12" of fluffy snow, 4-car driveway was cleared off in about 20 minutes. My back thanks Toro! I would recommend.
