Cheapest Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025
This snow thrower works great on walks. I have used it in blizzard condtions and it will throw snow up to 30'. While the manufacturer says it can move snow up to a depth of 10", I found that can handle deeper accumulations as long as you advance slowly. It won't throw ice and it won't throw slush without clogging (but neither does my two stage gasoline snow thrower). I recommend that you purchase cold weather extension cords as the typical plastic outdoor cords get stiff in cold weather, making it hard to take up the cord when you are finished). Use an outlet protected by a GFCI, please, since you are standing in and surrounded by frozen water while you are using it.
This snow thrower is light weight so it is easy to carry. You can lift it up stairs, so it can be used to clean your porch or deck or your pathway with steps. It is easy to start (a safety key is provided which prevents the cord from being connected unless the key is inserted and turned ... I recommend that you attach the key to a bright colored coiled keychain, so you don't lose the small key in the snow). No gas is need, no oil, no tuneups, no sparkplug..just plug in and go. The snowthrower is not self propelled, but the machine is easy to move and there is some self movement due to the turning blades.
The discharge chute can be adjusted by turning the crank from the operators position, so the snow can be properly directed.
Assembly is relatively easy (about 15 minutes)...you must connect the two parts of the handle together, attach the crank and the cross bar and secure with two nuts and bolts. Toro thoughfully used different sizes for the hex head bolts and the nuts, so they could be tightened with one socket set. You also have to attach the top of the chute to the bottom of the chute with carriage bolts and nuts.
If you only need to clear walks (or even a small driveway) this snow thrower is for you.
