This product does what it does well. If you know you want an electric snowthrower and not electric, this one is a reasonable choice (home depot for $288).
Some electric vs gas items: 1) you don't need to worry about it starting or not 2) it is NOT self-propelled, so in heavier snows more than 6 inches, the effort to push through the snow starts to increase. So if you're going to get a foot of snow, clearing 6 inches twice will be much easier. 3) an interesting way to use this machine (documented in the manual) is to use the two handles and pick it up and cut down taller snow banks (like at the end of a driveway after a plow has gone by) in a sort of scything motion. Interesting alternative to buying a huge gas powered one so it has enough power to hack down the pile.
I had one difficulty in the minor bit of assembly required -- it appears the bolt are too long, so that the locknuts don't screw onto them as far as they should. Toro was very nice on the phone, and will send out some new bolts and also a new chute discharge (plastic) so I can make it perfect.
