It is the first day I used it. I put it together last night. It only required four screws, but not easy to do. The instruction did not say which tools to use. There are two moving parts to tighten one screw and locknut. I had a hard time to find right tools to hold one in place, which tightened the other.

The primary handle has the switch, very unsafe. I tried to remove electric cord under the snow blower, but touched the handle/switch inadvertently, the cord was tangled and I could not remove it. I guess I have to cut the cord and buy new one. What a pain.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Living in Northern VA, the winters can be mild which amount to no snow or like yesterday, we get the Blizzard of 2009 with over 20" of snow in less than 24 hours. Having owned a 2 Stage Snow Thrower for several years now, it was just over kill. Each year having to haul it out, get the gas ready...what a mess!

So I decided last week to simplify things. I started looking at 1 Stage Snow Throwers, both electric and gas. Have always heard great things about Toro so I started reading the online reviews. Every where I looked, Consumer Guide, Consumer Reports, etc. they all said the same thing...you cannot go wrong with Toro.

I narrowed it down to the electric Toro 1800 and the gas Power Clear 180. Went to a local store to take a look at them and the first thing I thought was this electric Toro 1800 was a joke. Granted I don't get big snowstorms in my area, but I thought this thing couldn't handle more than a dusting. So I focused in on the Power Clear 180. It has the Toro name behind it, the strong recommendation, and I nearly started to take it to the register. However, I had a second thought and wondered if once again for my needs, is this really more than what I needed, not to mention the mess of using gasoline and the general maintenance required.

Took another look at the Toro 1800 and talked to the sales rep. He mentioned he had worked there for years and only once did he recall ever having a Toro 1800 returned; then that got me thinking. What did I have to lose, if it did not meet my expectations, just return it. So I picked up the Toro 1800, couldn't believe how light it was and headed to the register. Also picked up a 12 gauge contractor 50 ft extension cord.

Woke up yesterday morning and already had 8 inches on the ground. I thought either I was going to be done in 30 minutes or be breaking out the old snow shovel in 2 minutes and taking this thing back next week. Sprayed the chute and blade with WD40 to prevent any sticking of the snow. Plugged in the extension cord and started using it with a back and forth vacuum style motion. Started just a foot outside my garage and worked my way out. This thing was amazing! Unlike my 2 Stage Snow Thrower, it was easy to move it back and forth. One thing I never liked about my 2 Stage Snow Thrower was how heavy it was and hard to turn.

With in a couple of minutes, total forgot it was an electric snow thrower. The motor was amazing! Not once did it have a problem with the snow and extension cord was nearly forgotten as I had wrapped it around the handle. I manage to finish in about 15 minutes. One thing I found interesting just as I was pulling the snow thrower back in the garage...I looked over at my neighbor who has actually started shoveling well before I came outside and has a driveway half the distance, but was still hard at work. So I took my little Toro over and within a few minutes we had her driveway cleared out too.

Just came in from outside to clear out the additional snow we got last night and all done. Another thing I love about the Toro 1800 is it scrapes all the way to the pavement; doesn't leave that slush layer like my old 2 Stage Snow Thrower. Always had to go back over it with a shovel and took so much time; what a mess!

Two stage snow throwers...been there, seen it and done it! Never going back to owning one unless I move far North. For me, I look forward to the next snowstorm as I know I have my handy dandy Toro 1800 ready and waiting. Light weight and easy to store with no maintenance, what else could you ask for?

Anyone looking for a snow thrower, I HIGHLY recommend the Toro 1800. For me, I wouldn't use any other snow thrower.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Best Quality

We have been waiting for snow to try out this little snow thrower. It has tackled the big 18 inch Nor'easter storm today, Dec. 19. We did take it about 3-4 inches at a time, making multiple passes throughout the day as the snow fell. It throws the snow about twenty feet, has sufficient power to plow through drifts, and cleans pretty close to the surface, not leaving too much of a snow film behind. It is easy to push, about the same as a shopping cart. We went for the electric model; since we get only a few snows per year, usually less than three inches each, and don't want to have to maintain a gasoline engine. We have had good experience with Toro products in the past.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.
