I bought this snowblower to clean my three decks and the pathway to the cars parked outside. Here in Maine we get lots of snow. The first snow storm that it was used on was about 7 inches. No problem. lightweight to carry, throws snow a good distance. Did not harm the wood painted decking. Second storm was about 15 inches. This took some extra work. With the soft fluffy snow it was a breeze. With the heavy snow it worked very well however you have to cut a trail about half the width of the snowblower so it did not bog down. At the end of the last job, I hit a piece of ice which caused the big belt to break. Toro service sent me a new belt without problem. Easy to change multi grooved belt. They are expensive so I would buy an extra for a back up. It is now ready for the next snowfall. Buy a good heavy outdoor cord rated for cold weather. We bought this snow thrower for our three-unit condo association. For our specific needs -- long sidewalk, small parking area, stairs to get it in and out of the building -- it's perfect -- lightweight, electric, and adequate for most ordinary storms. The first time he used it, one of the owners said, "Where has this thing been all my life? It's actually fun!" For some of our bigger blizzards, we've kept within the machine's capacity by taking it out a couple of times during the storm -- it's easy enough to use that this is relatively quick and painless. And it cost about as much as we were spending on sporadic professional snow removal (when we could get it) so an obvious win on price. Several neighbors have asked where we got it, including a couple of kids who were shoveling walks for money and offered to buy it from me on the spot. The combination of light weight and adequate power, plus not having to hassle with gasoline or other fuel, makes it perfect for us. We did immediately lose the key to the cord-orientation safety feature -- it should probably come with a couple of spares, or some kind of device that doesn't fall out and disappear in the snow quite so easily. Otherwise, a terrific purchase. Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

There's not much more to say than this does what you need it to. I use it on a packed-down gravel driveway, about 100 by 20, and it takes less than an hour. I've never tried it on ice or accumulated clumpy snow, but when I kept up on the two to four inch snowfalls we were getting, it worked a charm and I couldn't be happier with it. Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Decide Now

I did a good deal of browsing through customer reviews before settling on this product. I was a bit concerned about may people having difficulties with belts and other failures. Still, this product had much better reviews than the other electric snow throwers on Amazon, so I decided to give it a shot.

When it arrived, I was not overly impressed. It was small, plastic, and felt more like a toy. The instructions for putting it together were quite simple. I was concerned about the "handle" on the top of the chute where the snow is thrown out of. Still, it came together pretty quick.

The night I got it, we had about 3" of snow fall, so I decided to give it a quick run. The machine is impressively powerful. It launched snow a good 20'-30'. It even handled some pretty heavy wet snow. The thrower can be angled to almost 90 degrees left or right, so I could dictate where it threw the snow.

I would have given a perfect review except for the height adjuster (the handle on top of the chute). This part attaches to the end of the tube using a screw bolt/washer/nut combination. It is supposed to be adjustable so you can throw snow up and out or shoot it almost straight sideways. Sadly, the one end of this combination is simply a rounded hub with no place to grip with a wrench or screwdriver.

Try as I might, I couldn't get the nut to tighten down on this part, and so every time I angled the chute down, the force of the out-going snow would flip it up again. Thus, I was forced to blow snow several dozen feet in to the air, where it would either blow back in to my driveway or fly on to my neighbor's car and house. This summer, I intend to look more closely at how the machine is built to see if perhaps I can figure out a way to get things tightened down.

The height adjuster aside, I am impressed with this little machine. It seems to handle the snow quite well. It sounds like nothing more than an over sized hair dryer. My fiance told me she didn't hear me using it from inside the house.

I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to cut back on buying gas for their gas snow thrower. It's also useful for those folks who have a smaller drive, but not the strength or back to shovel heavy snow. Just remember to carefully inspect the distance from the end of your drive to your electrical outlet. Make sure you have a long enough winter-rated electrical cord.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Right now

Overall: one of the best power tools I have bought, ever.

This machine is light, powerful, and effective. I live in the Boston area, and this has been a very white winter -- with all kinds of snow.
Pros:
- Fast (for its size)
- Effective: throws far, clears down to the pavement
- Light: can easily be picked up to clear snow drifts or to store it
- Electric: no smell, (almost) no maintenance
- Toro really backs their guarantee (long story, ends well)
Cons:
- Not a heavy duty machine; limited to about 12" deep snow
(otherwise you have to pick it up and do two passes)
- Plastic blade can't handle ice or rocks (e.g., in the plow drift)

I used this several times before writing my review. It works great but maybe not for that "2 footer". You have to be careful of the electrical cord but I think that's better than breathing in the gas & oil fumes from the gas operated ones. My neighbor has the same one & loves it.
