I bought this earlier this week because I was tired of shoveling the front walkway (about 80' long, 4 feet wide) - my son used to be my free snow blower, but he went off to college so not it's up to me again.

In any case, my timing for this order was impeccable as we had a doozie of a blizzard with 33" of snow that ended today (in Northern Virginia).

The snow blower was easy to assemble and worked like a charm. I made two passes on the walkway, the first with about 20 inches of snow and the second with what seemed like another 18 or so inches (which I presume came from some drifting). The snow was wet and heavy, but the blower kept on chugging... I'd push it into the bottom of the snow, pull it back and the snow on top would fall and then push it in again to get it cleared.

It was more labor intensive than it would have been if I'd had a big two stage, self propelled thrower, but they are way more expensive (both initial purchase and ongoing maintenance). If you want something where you just steer, this isn't the one for you. But if you want something that saves you the back breaking lifting of a shovel, this works and if it can handle this storm, it should be able to handle pretty much anything.

I bought the Toro about 10 years ago. Since it is an electric snow blower it is rated to handle only small areas with less than 6 inches of soft snow. Low operating cost (electricity) and lightweight, this model does the job. The recent snowstorm blasted through Ohio leaving 12" of wet snow on the ground. This 1800 got mid-evil on it and tore through the snow like Sonya Thomas going through hard boiled eggs (look her up). Except for the occasional pluggage (3 times in 2 days) of the discharge chute, this snowblower was a piece of cake. Quick assembly and plug it in to start movin' some snow. I would not recommend this for winding long driveways or places with substantial length of sidewalks. I WOULD recommend it for a 30' driveway (use a 50' extension cord) or less. I have a 30' driveway and a corner lot, so it takes a little more work stringing some extra cord, but it is easy to start (for the wife) and no worries of getting the engine tuned-up. Not self-propelled, but I didn't have to push as hard as I would have if I shoveled, so that is a plus.

I'm the kind of guy found putting together Lego challenging, so this is doable even for klutz. My wife and I spent about an hour to put this together and it worked, with about 18 inches of snow out there.

1st, put the handle bar/right-left tubes are a challenge. We sprayed WD40 to make it easier. Then came the plastic mallet to bang it down slowly with a cloth for protection. The trick is to put the two screws to hold the bar in place. Since the cord is on the right side, so there is a bit of tension there and do be careful with the right side screw.

Putting the chute was uneventful. Just look at the picture on the box. Plastic washer goes inside. I found plugging the cord to my extension was more a pain. The Toro started without any issue.

Now the snow, about 18 inches of soft powdery stuff. It threw about 10-12 feet. Since our driveway is about 200 feet long, I only used this around the walkway, the back and the front. The rest I left it to our snow removal crew. My wife is about 5'4"; she could easily handle this by herself. No complaint about its intended ability.

As for the quality, the Little Tyke wheels are better made than this Toro. You do get what you paid for, so don't expect much from $300 machine. I'm happy overall. My neighbor has a 2-stroke gas Toro and he did his whole driveway. If I have a very long extension cord, I would think this Toro could heck the job, but one should get a gas one for long driveway.
