Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Best Quality

I've noticed a lot of the reviews are from a few years back, and thought I'd add my two cents.

I got this contraption last year (2006) after I was tired of constantly shoveling my driveway. We had several snow storms dumping at least 6 inches of snow at a time. Of course once I got it, we didn't get but 2 inches! It blasted the 2 inches like it was nothing; I didn't get a chance to really test it until this year. 6 inches of snow cleared with no problems! A very nice feature on this unit is the crank'n aim snow chute. Some other models in it's price range only gives you the option to throw the snow straight forward. Being about to easily shift the chute make doing 200ft driveway a breeze. 200ft, yup that's one long extension cord... Happy Snow Blowin!

I was looking for an electric snow thrower, surveyed all the competitors our there, and opted for the Toro with all the bells and whistles, but I have to say I was extremely disappointed. I used it on only 3 inches of snow and the plastic blades cracked in half midway through clearing my driveway. I think they hardened because of the extreme cold and don't see how they could ever hold up during the winter. I'm returning this plastic blade Toro and going with another electric unit I found in my search that had a better price, more power, larger clearing width and steel blades. Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Immediately

We bought this last year, and only used it once or twice. But it has snowed three times in the last week and I can now honestly say it rocks!

The first lot of snow was wet - no problems going through 3" of heavy wet snow. Still threw the snow clear of the driveway (it even went through the remaining snow the following day that had a layer of ice on top).

We then got 7" of light fluffy snow - no problem at all. Our driveway is steep and so a heavy gas powered snow thrower would be impossible. But this is so lightweight that even with a layer of ice I was able to pull it back up the driveway. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Bought this unit 3 years ago. Broke on its first use. Fixed it; broke again after one use. Fixed it again; broke again on its first use. I have never owned a more worthless product in my life. Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025 Review

I bought this at the start of last winter season. I had a bout of severe lower back pain. Even though I felt better by the winter last year, I wanted to buy a snow blower to respect my weaker back. When I compared many gas ones and a few electric ones, I settled on this one. This one seemed a better balance between feather light-s and huge monsters. I made the right choice. It is light enough to be handled by almost anybody and still gets the job done. Although it serves my purpose I don't see this being useful for those who live up north, Minneapolis or Canada.

Pros:

- lightweight
- easy start
- easy store
- no maintenance
- reliable

Cons:

- have to deal with power cord; the power cord somewhat limits your mobility. I usually make a straight line to end of the driveway putting all of the power cord on one side of the grass. Then I try to work my way up in horizontal lines.
- When sometimes my neighbor cleans my sidewalk, I couldn't return the favor since my 100ft cable wouldn't reach his sidewalk :(
- the side effect of a lighter machine is it slides all over. Most of the time you would have to keep it in position with two hands otherwise it would slide all over with the slippery snow.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

We live in cold Wisconsin, and usually takes about 45 mins to shovel. My husband used it for the first time today and we timed it. {11 mins.} Could not believe it. I am now looking forward to the next snow fall, so I can check it out mtself. You won't be disappointed.Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.

Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025

Our last snow removal service (oldest kid) went off to college this year. Thus, after reading the reviews, we purchased this Toro 1800 from Amazon. We live in a ranch style house in a subdivision in Indianapolis, Indiana. So we have a two car driveway and sidewalks. Yesterday we had our first snow of about 3 to 5 inches. It was no problem. I don't think I broke a sweat. This was much easier to maneuver than one of those monster gas powered units. Plus it takes up much less room in the garage; I simply lean it against the wall, and there is no need to store gasoline. In my opinion, it's perfect for the snow we get in central Indiana. Amazon delivered the next day even though I paid for the lowest shipping option. It was very easy to put together, I honestly don't understand why other reviewers had difficulty. But in all fairness, I did read the instructions first. :)Get more detail about Toro 1800 18-Inch 12 Amp Electric Curve Snow Thrower #38025.
